Bertus is co-founder, together with his partner Leen, of Schorem Haarsnijder & Barbier in Rotterdam, the barbershop that grew from a single shop into a global phenomenon. Customers from around the world queue for hours, sometimes from early morning, for a classic cut or a hot-towel shave. With their own hair-care brand Reuzel, sold in dozens of countries, and the Old School Barber Academy, Bertus and Leen helped spark a worldwide revival of the barber’s craft.
Schorem is proof that extraordinary entrepreneurship can start with craftsmanship, character and an uncompromising vision. Bertus and Leen did everything “wrong” by conventional standards: no appointments, a limited menu, and a brand built on authenticity rather than marketing budgets. Their story is about staying true to yourself, building a loyal community and turning a local shop into an international brand.
